Summer Session Smashes Statistics

If JCCC has record-breaking enrollment figures, why is this the easiest summer ever to find a parking spot?

Posted today on the Johnson County Community College electronic mail server, Infolist:

A total of 10,029 students are enrolled in summer classes at Johnson County Community College, up 9.7 percent from the 9,141 enrolled last summer. This is the highest summer enrollment the college has ever recorded.

The number of credit hours in which students are enrolled is 43,911, a 10.6 percent increase from last summer’s total of 39,710, also a record. Summer classes at JCCC began June 1.

“Students know the quality of our classes,” said Terry A. Calaway, JCCC president. “Picking up a few extra hours in the summer allows them to keep up their grades and perhaps graduate just a little bit earlier.”

The increase in enrollment with the ease of parking may be explained by the general increase in online courses available.
