JCCC to Host Kan. 3rd Congressional District Debate

Republican Kevin Yoder is proposing six debates with his Democratic opponent in Kansas’ 3rd Congressional District.

Yoder, a Kansas House member from Overland Park, has issued a challenge to Democratic nominee Stephene Moore. She is the wife of retiring Democratic Congressman Dennis Moore.

Yoder says voters in the congressional district deserve an honest discussion of the candidates’ differences.

A spokesman for Moore, Trevor Willett, says the Democratic nominee looks forward to as many debates as possible before the Nov. 2 general election.

Both candidates have been invited to take part in a debate at 7 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Johnson County Community College. It is being sponsored by The Kansas City Star, KCPT public television, the college and the League of Women Voters of Johnson County. It will be held in the Carlsen Center at the college’s Overland Park campus.
