Dress says ‘I Do’ support scholarships

Wedding Dresses Help Fund Scholarships

In 2005, the JCCC Foundation held Captivating Bridal Images, two wedding fashion events that included the Paula Varsalona Heart of America Wedding Dress Sale.

The events raised money for scholarships awarded by the Foundation and The Fashion Group International.

Varsalona, a New York wedding dress designer from Kansas City, Mo., donated the gowns to the college.

More than 200 of them — in a variety of designs — remain available for purchase.

All proceeds from sales, with the exception of sales tax, go to scholarships.

The collection dates from 1978 to the mid-1980s, and the vintage dresses have never been worn except on the fashion runway.

Call the Foundation office for more information or to make a purchase at 913-469-3835. For more information about the dresses themselves, call Joan McCrillis, a Fashion Merchandising and Design professor, at 913-469-8500, ext. 3357
