Campus chosen as site for two electric vehicle charging stations
JCCC will be the site for two of 10 electric vehicle charging stations being placed around the Kansas City metropolitan area through a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.
KCP&L made the announcement at a press conference this morning.
The charging stations will be Coulomb Electric Vehicle Charging stations, which will be installed by the Overland Park-based LilyPad EV.
Photos from the press conference can be seen on the college’s Facebook page.
The Kansas City Regional Clean Cities Coalition is working with KCP&L to administer the grant, which is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
In addition to JCCC, charging stations will be located at Black and Veatch, Overland Park; the City of Lee’s Summit; Commerce Bank, Harley Davidson and Union Station, all in Kansas City, Mo.; Heartland Hospital, St. Joseph; and Park Place Village, Leawood. Park Place also will have two charging stations.
JCCC’s charging stations will be located in the lower level of the Carlsen Center west garage, near the entrance to the Carlsen Center. Plans call for the stations to be installed this summer.
