JCCC Library Renovation

Progress on the renovation of the Billington Library at JCCC is, uh, progressing.

The library is expanding into the seldom used foyer area. Workers are anchoring beams into the cement staircase so, right now, it kinda looks like toothpicks stuck in a giant pineapple.

This area will no longer serve as a library exit. It will become a work and storage area. It will also be where a student can get a campus ID/library card.

A clear curved glass-like plastic-y thing, which I believe is the technical term for it, will attach to the beams to aid in dampening the echo (it’s a three-story space, y’all). It’ll also help diffuse light.

The Periodical/Reserve desk (first floor) and the Circulation desk (second floor) will find new  homes at the circular desk in the library’s main entrance.

The library’s  main entrance is still usable however, be careful because all the dust makes the floor slippery.
