Former JCCC President Seeks Top Job in Florida

Less than two weeks after officially leaving JCCC, Calaway sets his eyes on Florida State College at Jacksonville

“Terry Calaway has announced his retirement as president of Johnson County Community College,” a JCCC press release announced last October.

“Calaway is retiring to spend more time with his family; he plans to leave the college Aug. 1, 2013”

Clearly his family wants to be the head of a large community college in Florida.

FSCJ began searching for a permanent president in November 2012

FSCJ presidential search timeline began November 6, 2012 — eleven days after Terry Calaway announced his retirement from JCCC.

Calaway’s sudden announcement to retire followed Trustee Don Weiss’ resignation from the Board of Trustees and is followed by Trustee Melody Rayl’s resignation from the board this month.

Calaway "retired" to be with his family.
